A Spectacle of Unity and Remembrance: The West Coast Thunder Memorial Day Motorcycle Ride
Each Memorial Day, over 7,500 motorcyclists from across the nation converge on Indiana Avenue in Riverside, California. This assembly is more than a show of force; it’s a moving tribute to the valor of U.S. soldiers, both past and present.
The event, which took root in 2000 through the initiative of the Inland Empire Harley Owners Group®, commences at Riverside Harley-Davidson. Participants, escorted by the police, journey through the city, paying their respects as they pass the Riverside National Cemetery and travel on to Diamond Stadium in Lake Elsinore.
The event culminates in a concert at Diamond Stadium, where past lineups have featured country music luminaries like Big & Rich, Granger Smith, Eli Young Band, and Frankie Ballard.
Impact Beyond the Parade
The foundation’s commitment extends beyond the annual parade. Proceeds from West Coast Thunder events are pivotal in funding various projects at Riverside National Cemetery. These include constructing monuments, maintaining memorials, acquiring golf carts, and other essential services.
Notably, the West Coast Thunder Foundation, a nonprofit organization, has made significant contributions, including assisting in the funding of the Prisoner of War/Missing in Action Memorial in 2005.
Joining the Cause: How to Contribute
